Lirik lagu "New Rules" oleh Dua Lipa

Jakarta PinangRaya - Lagu "New Rules" nan dirilis pada 2017 oleh penyanyi Inggris-Albania Dua Lipa dalam album nan dijuduli dengan namanya sendiri "Dua Lipa" bukan hanya sekadar lagu pop biasa, melainkan sebuah pernyataan sikap alias manifesto wanita nan berkekuatan untuk mengakhiri hubungan asmara nan tidak sehat ("toxic relationship").

Lagu "New Rules" diciptakan melalui kerjasama antara penulis lagu kenamaan dari Amerika Serikat Ian Kirkpatrick dan Emily Warren, serta dari Norwegia Caroline "Ailin" Furøyen. Menariknya, lagu itu awalnya ditujukan untuk grup vokal wanita asal Inggris, Little Mix. Namun, ketika Dua Lipa menyanyikannya, lagu ini menemukan jiwa nan baru dan menjadi representasi sempurna dari gambaran seorang wanita nan kuat dan mandiri.

Melalui "New Rules", Dua Lipa mendendangkan tiga patokan sederhana untuk para pendengar, terutama perempuan, berani menetapkan batas nan melindungi diri mereka sendiri dari mantan pasangan nan pernah menyakiti: Pertama, jangan pernah mengangkat telepon darinya. Kedua, jangan biarkan dia masuk. Ketiga, jangan pernah berkawan dengan dia.

Video musik "New Rules" diambil dengan latar belakang sebuah hotel di Pantai Miami. Video itu menampilkan sekelompok wanita nan saling mendukung dan merayakan keberdayaan kawan mereka. Visual nan kuat dan koreografi nan memukau menjadi salah satu nan paling ikonis dari video musik tersebut.
